The name, "King's Regiment", originated in 1975 when Glenn Finley came to Kountze High School as Band Director. Under the direction of Mr. Finley the band won numerous awards in marching, concert and sightreading. Tradition was born during these years. Sometime during Mr. Finley's stay at KHS this logo was sketched out by a 8th grade band student, Joseph Gunter, and adapted as the band's logo. Upon returning to Kountze High School in 1998 as band director, I found the original logo filed away and decided it was time for the return of the "King's Regiment". Since 1998 the "King's Regiment" has reestablished the winning tradition of the Finley years. The band has won numerous 1st Divisions at UIL Marching, Concert, and Sightreading Contests. In addition, the King's Regiment has advanced to the UIL Area Marching Contest, the TMEA Region and Area Honor Band Contests, and has advanced to the ATSSB Region, Area, and State Outstanding Performance Series Competition. The band's students are actively involved in ATSSB and TMEA All Region Band tryouts and UIL Solo/Ensemble Contests, advancing to the state level on a yearly basis.
