To the Kountze community, my name is Michael Manning. This is my 4th year and I am very excited to get this school year started. My job assignment is two fold. The first part of my job is that I am the district’s behavior specialist. There are some students who may have some difficulties in the regular classroom. I really enjoy this part of my job because I get to create a special bond with these students, teaching them life skills on how to cope with worldly issues. These behavior skills will be used for the remainder of their life. The second part of my job is that I am the Homebound teacher. Throughout the year there are students who get sick or have a surgery that requires them to stay at home. Depending on the campus the student’s assignments are sent to the front office. I come by, pick up their assignments and take these assignments to the student at home. The teachers ensure that the student recieves all notes and any class assignments. They are the teacher of record. I am an extension of their class. I also have a P.E. class. It will be the last period of the day. All students will start out with a 100. If they dress out everyday and participate everyday, their grade will remain a 100. Each day they don’t dress out or refuse to participate, 5 points will be decucted from the 100 average. In the end, I will take the participation grade (50%), dress grade (25%), and an academic grade (25%), at them up and divide by 4. This class is a body building class. We are going to build our bodies to whatever the individual student wants to look like. I look forward to a great year.
