The campus is located at 1488 Hwy. 1293 in the heart of the Big Thicket in Southeast Texas. As a small rural AA school located in Hardin County, the population of KHS has grown to exceed 400 students in grades 9-12. The faculty and staff consists of 40 teachers, 3 administrators, 1 registered nurse, 1 counselor, 1 librarian, 6 paraprofessionals, and 9 support service staff members.
Kountze High School offers a wide range of programs that are designed to stimulate students both academically and athletically. Among the many past accomplishments, Kountze High School has been a Texas Education Agency "Exemplary" rated campus for four years, had a two-time World Championship Odyssey of the Mind team, been recognized as the AAA Boy's State Basketball Champions of 2003-2004, received accolades as a three-time Sweepstakes winning King's Regiment Marching Band, won both Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Steer of the Beaumont YMBL FFA show, and won honors at the state level for five years with a Sweepstakes Student Council program, that has included three years as district DASH winners. Students, faculty, and parents are very proud of the hard work and dedication that has gone in to shaping the success and continued commitment to excellence at this campus.
