Welcome to Mrs. Puckitt's RTI Reading class. I also teach a really cool Design Class!
I teach RTI Reading, Tier II and Tier III for both 7th and 8th grades. I also teach dyslexic students. We improve our reading skills through group reading and RTI materials provided by our adopted textbook - Pearson. We use a variety of research based computer programs to help improve our skills. We do not have a unit outline per say, as students are taught on an individual or small group basis. The Renaissance testing program, used 6-12 times per six weeks, helps teachers to diagnose students' areas of weakness. Adjustments are then made to the student's instruction.
Dyslexic students go through the phonics program, MTA, and use the computer program, Lexia.
I am also teaching a really fun class called Learn By Design during 6th and 8th periods. We use our talents to decorate the bulletin boards, teachers’ doors and hallways. Our mission is to boost school spirit and morale.
Class Expectations are based on individual growth.
Dyslexia class will study phonics such as blends and short vowels with the MTA dyslexia program and the Lexia computer program.
RTI Reading will use the Compass learning computer Program and leveled readers.
