6 weeks expectations

Expectations for the 6th  six weeks include:

  • accuracy of FNon ictional readings on a Level 28
  • 2 AR tests weekly
  • comprehension & vocabulary understanding of weekly stories,
  • development of phonic skills associated with previous six weeks and: trigraphs, g that sounds like j, sounds of a, vc patterns, spelling patterns, Sight Words, doubling and dropping rules, quadrigraphs, prefixes, french endings
  • identify verbs, nouns both singular and plural forms, adverbs, abbreviations
  • identify and correct usage of commands, statements, questions, exclamations
  • letter writing
  • Homographs, Antonyms, Dictionary, Synonyms, Homophones, Multi meaning words, suffixes
  • fluency in basic addition and subtraction facts
  • Math skills assoicated with previous six weeks and: understanding multiplication and division through picture drawingFinacial Literacy
  • active participation in discussions over Social Studies Weekly, Famous Americans, safety rules, community leaders, dinosaurs, fossils, space, friendships/relationships
  • Technology/chromebooks

  • accuracy of Fictional readings on a Level 28
  • 2 AR tests weekly
  • comprehension & vocabulary understanding of weekly stories,
  • development of phonic skills associated with previous six weeks and: trigraphs, g that sounds like j, sounds of a, vc patterns, spelling patterns, Sight Words, doubling and dropping rules, quadrigraphs, 
  • identify verbs, nouns both singular and plural forms
  • identify and correct usage of commands, statements, questions, exclamations
  • Homographs, Antonyms, Dictionary, Synonyms, Homophones, Multi meaning words
  • fluency in basic addition and subtraction facts

  • active participation in discussions over Social Studies Weekly, arctic climate, Presidents, Famous Black Americans, folktales, legends, plant needs and life cycles, animal needs and life cycles,

Expectations for the 4th  six weeks include:

  • accuracy of reading on a Level 24 
  • 2 AR tests weekly
  • comprehension & vocabulary understanding of weekly stories,
  • development of phonic skills associated with previous six weeks and: digraphs, final stable syllables, affixes, dipthongs, c that sounds like s, trigraphs, g that sounds like j, sounds of a, spelling patterns, Sight Words
  • identify verbs, nouns both singular and plural forms
  • identify and correct usage of commands, statements, questions, exclamations
  • Homographs, Antonyms, Dictionary
  • fluency in basic addition and subtraction facts
  • Math skills associated with previous six weeks and: identification of coins, counting like and mixed coins, 2D and 3D shapes, Fractions of a whole, half, third, fourth, eigthup to 2 digit addition and subtraction with and without regrouping
  • active participation in discussions over Social Studies Weekly, arctic climate, penguins, use of weather vanes, Groundhog’s day, Presidents, Famous Black Americans, folktales

  • accuracy of reading on a Level 20 
  • 2 AR tests weekly
  • comprehension & vocabulary understanding of weekly stories,
  • development of phonic skills associated with previous six weeks and: vowel digraphs, suffixes, Y as a vowel, final stable syllables, ghost letters, dipthongs, c that sounds like s, spelling patterns, Sight Words
  • identify verbs, nouns both singular and plural forms
  • identify and correct usage of commands, statements, questions, exclamations
  • Homographs
  • fluency in basic addition facts 
  • Math skills associated with previous six weeks and: identification of coins, counting like and mixed coins, 2D and 3D shapes, Fractions of a whole, half, third, fourth, eigth
  • active participation in discussions over Social Studies Weekly, Native Americans, Thanksgiving, Christmas, traditions of cultures

Expectations for the 2nd six weeks include:

  • accuracy of reading on a Level 18 
  • 2 AR tests weekly
  • comprehension & vocabulary understanding of weekly stories,
  • development of phonic skills associated previous six weeks and: vowel digraphs, Wild Colt words, Floss Rule, suffixes, spelling patterns with c, k, ck , Sight Words  
  • identify verbs, nouns both singular and plural forms
  • identify and correct usage of commands, statements, questions, exclamations
  • Synonyms, Prefixes pre/mis, Idioms
  • fluency in basic addition facts 
  • Math skills associated with previous six weeks and: identify, order and compare numbers to the thousands, addition & subtraction with up to 4 digits with no regroupingidentification of coins
  • active participation in discussions over Social Studies Weekly, Christopher Columbus, science tools, matter, bats/spiders/creepy crawlers, and hibernation.

Expectations for the 1st six weeks include:

  • accuracy of reading on a Level 16
  • 2 AR tests weekly 
  • comprehension & vocabulary understanding of weekly stories 
  • development of phonic skills associated with: abc order, vowels, consonants, digraphs, combinations, blends, spellings with initial K sounds, ck as k in final position, and review of 1st grade common Sight Words
  • usage of complete sentences, statements/questions, plural nouns
  • Glossary, ed/ing endings, multi meaning words
  • fluency in basic addition facts
  • identify, order, and compare numbers to the hundreds place
  • odd/even numbers 
  • active participation in discussions over Social Studies Weekly, heroes, science tools, seasons, and animals.
