Sarah Arsement is the recipient of two scholarship awards that will afford her once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunities. The first scholarship announced was her invitation to attend the Glassell Junior School. Sarah is one of 120 K-12 students to be awarded this honor. This workshop is a one-week summer program held at the Glassell School near the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston. Sarah will be able to select a course of study for this week that reflects what she is interested in learning more about as an artist. The scholarship covers the cost of the workshop fee and all art materials Sarah will need. The second scholarship Sarah won is to attend the Western Art Academy. She is one of only 48 students chosen from the pool of HLS&R School Art program participants. The WAA is a four-week program summer program held on the campus of Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX. There she will benefit from in-depth instruction from master artists in the areas of oil painting and sculpture. The scholarship covers the cost of all workshop fees, art materials, housing and food during her stay there. Sarah's WAA scholarship is the second time two years in a row that a KHS student has been awarded a scholarship to attend this prestigious workshop.

In addition to Sarah's scholarship awards, these KISD students also received the following awards:

High School

 - Bailey Kidder - Best of Show trophy

 - Sarah Arsement - Gold Medal

 - Gavin Robles - Gold Medal

Middle School

 - Karizma Breen - Best of Show trophy

 - Baillie Walters - Gold Medal

The artwork is currently on display in the concourse of the NRG Center and will remain there for the duration of the HLS&R. Once the work is returned to us at the end of the month I will display it in the campus libraries. Until then, you can see it on my KISD website.

Kountze and Hardin Schools raised $1616.50 for our Annual Coaches vs. Cancer game.  The money will be sent to the Jimmy V Foundation!!
