Hi. My name is Lesa Mitchael. I graduated from Kountze High School in 1983. I am married and have 2 kids and will get the new name of “Granny” in the spring. (No, I’m not afraid “Granny” will make me sound old.) I am a veteran of the US Army. I graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelors of Applied Arts and Sciences and started teaching in 2006. I love history and hope my students will enjoy the "story" that is history and want to discover more. My goals for geography are for our kiddos to develop an understanding, tolerance, and empathy for the people in other places of the world. My goals for government and economics are for these young ladies and gentlemen to have working knowledge of how our government works, thier rights and responsibilities as citizens, and, hopefully, the ability to distinguish between propaganda and real news. I hope that they also learn to look at both sides of an issue before they make decisions and to help them understand why people do and say the things that they do. I’m looking forward to a great year but am a little sad as this is my youngest’s senior year and I know it will pass way to quickly.
